Robin Hood Redux
(Roger Miller/ Evan Eleven)
Robin Hood and Little John walkin' thru the forest
laughin' back and forth at what the other had to say
reminiscin' this and that and havin' such a good
time
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, golly, what a day
Never ever thinkin' there was danger in the water
they were drinkin', they just guzzled it down
never dreamin' that a schemin' sheriff and his posse
was a watchin' them and gatherin' around
Robin Hood and Little John runnin' thru the forest
jumpin' fences, dodgin' trees and tryin' to get away
contemplatin' nothin' but escapin'- finally makin'
it
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, golly, what a day
When i was a little lad i wished that i was Robin Hood
i'd rassle with the other kids and i was glad and gay
with the choice of good or bad, i always wanted to be
good
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, golly, what a day
So i watched the cartoon and i read the comic book
i listened to the songs that Roger Miller played
and then i learned that princes, pigs and sherriffs are
dirty crooks
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, golly, what a day
And Robin robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor and
he sacrificed his life for the fight
and now a thousand years later we can learn from his example
and say that Robin Hood was right
And finally, while i'm singin' this i gotta thank Disney
for teachin' 'bout the class war and leadin' me astray
and if they don't like it then they can fuckin' sue me
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, golly, what a day
Oo-De-Lally, Oo-De-Lally, golly, what a day
